Our Featured Pet of The Week
My name is Mardi Gras and i was found trapped in someone's tree house, too afraid to come down. I love being petted but will let you know when I've had enough. Can you see how i got my name? I am a pretty girl with amazing markings, looking for a furr-ever home.
I would prefer to be an only cat, but tolerate other cats, really i just ignore them. I feel at ease with small dogs and probably had a dog friend in a past life. We are not exactly buddies, but i am intrigued by them. My foster mom has 6 cats and 2 dogs and I get along fine with all of them.
Mardi Gras is up to date on her shots, been spayed, and micro-chipped. She can be seen at the PetSmart in Arden, NC on our Adoption Days (every Saturday 11-4pm). For more information, please call 883-4085 or email info@taagwags.org.
Mardi Gras can be seen at the Petsmart in Arden, NC from 11-4 on Saturdays
TAAG's ADOPTION STATISTICS
Almost 300 animals have found homes this year through TAAG's adoption program, which averages 24 pets a month. We do our best to find homes for the animals we commit to, even if they sometimes have medical or behavioral issues.
We also help place many additional pets in cooperation with other animal rescues that are not included in our adoption numbers. However, since we do not have a physical shelter to house our adoptable animals, we are limited in the number of animals we can take into the system by the number of foster homes we have.
Times are hard for many charities and TAAG is no exception. The past year has seen many pets left behind because of job losses and home foreclosures. Adoptions are down as well as donations. Fewer families have the resources to provide foster homes for our adoptable pets. Despite these setbacks, TAAG continues to match families with pets at PetSmart on Airport Road in Arden on Saturdays from 11-4.
Can you help? We always need foster families and volunteers!!
Will You Be a Foster Parent?
We will happily match you with an animal that fits into your home and lifestyle.
If you think that you have room in your heart to foster an animal, ask us some questions. There is no obligation, and it might be the most rewarding experience you've had in a while!

Volunteers monitor the voicemail. We do not have an office or a secretary, so please be patient and we will respond to your request if we believe we can help you. We offer financial assistance with spay/neuter and help with placing adoptable animals if we have room in one of our foster homes (we do not have a shelter).
We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and donations are tax deductible.
Would you like to sponsor a cat or dog? $75.00 pays for one spay/neuter, rabies shot and other essential vaccinations, as well as testing and microchipping.
If you cannot adopt or foster, please consider sponsoring an animal in need. Make checks payable to TAAG and put "vet fund" on the memo line. We can now also accept donations via credit or debit card with paypal.

I Adopted a Human Today
"Those of us in animal rescue would like to share this heartwarming article with you. It was not written by us but reflects our thoughts. Thanks to all of you who have made your life so much richer by saving the life of a rescued animal. Without you, we would not be able to save the lives of hundreds of animals each year ... THANK YOU!" - TAAG
Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor peering apprehensively into the kennels. I felt her need instantly and knew I had to help her. I wagged my tail, not too exuberantly, so she wouldn't be afraid. As she stopped at my kennel I blocked her view from a little accident I had in the back of my cage. I didn't want her to know that I hadn't been walked today. Sometimes the shelter keepers get too busy and I didn't want her to think poorly of them.
As she read my kennel card I hoped that she wouldn't feel sad about my past. I only have the future to look forward to and want to make a difference in someone's life. She got down on her knees and made little kissy sounds at me. I shoved my shoulder and side of my head up against the bars to comfort her. Gentle fingertips caressed my neck; she was desperate for companionship. A tear fell down her cheek and I raised my paw to assure her that all would be well. Soon my kennel door opened and her smile was so bright that I instantly jumped into her arms.
I would promise to keep her safe. I would promise to always be by her side. I would promise to do everything I could to see that radiant smile and sparkle in her eyes. I was so fortunate that she came down my corridor. So many more are out there who haven't walked the corridors.
So many more to be saved. At least I could save one.
